The Kennedy Forum Illinois’ mission is to eliminate the stigma and discrimination against those living with mental health and substance use disorders. Research shows the most effective way to eliminate stigma is through face-to-face interaction with someone who has lived experience, and our training programs are founded on this basic principle.

A major component of our work includes conducting mental health training sessions. We provide trainings to various audiences, from community-based organizations to corporate workplaces, ranging from 30-minutes to day-long sessions. Our goal is to instill knowledge, confidence, and acceptance about mental health and substance use disorders.

We have directed several initiatives across the City and state for various audiences, tailoring our message and resources to fit the audience’s needs. Our training sessions are rooted in evidence-based practices and research. Our team possesses training experience – in-person and virtually – and personal experience with mental health and substance use disorder.

Some of the topics we cover in our training sessions:

  • Mental Health Signs & Symptoms
  • Workplace Wellness
  • Wellness During Covid-19
  • Stress Management
  • Self-Care
  • Isolation
  • Mindfulness, Meditation, & Visualization
  • Communication & De-Escalation
