The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and the energy is palpable. There is a sense of hope and momentum for real change. November 13th was just the beginning.

The Forum convened stakeholders rarely at the same table – business leaders, civic leaders, philanthropy, media, medical experts, providers, community organizations, advocates, celebrities, and public officials. You were all there.

We understand that you have entrusted to us your dollars, your time and your confidence. Your support for The Kennedy Forum Illinois helps underwrite our work to activate new voices and powerful partnerships to accelerate action and identify opportunities for the greatest impact.

In the coming months:

  • We will zero in on six focus areas where the inequity and stigma of mental health and addiction has an immense opportunity cost: in our schools, workplaces, justice system, health care practice, families, and veterans. This work will include rigorous monitoring and enforcement of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.
  • We will develop a plan that identifies immediate opportunities for progress. You can sign up to stay apprised of our work and make recommendations here.
  • We will launch a public campaign to share stories that smash stereotypes and document discrimination. We invite you to share your story.
  • We will continue to seek new partnerships and new supporters. Sustaining an ongoing effort will take significant resources. It is clear that cost of doing nothing is too great. It is time for rapid progress and thinking outside the box. It is time we start bringing solutions to government – not just looking to government for the answers. It is time to shift the conversation from problem to potential.
